january 2011 – The Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters (CCHI) congratulates the first group of healthcare interpreters to earn the CHI™ (Certified Healthcare Interpreter™) Certification and AHI™ (Associate Healthcare Interpreter™) Credential. We have been anticipating this moment for years and are thrilled to introduce 235 trained, qualified, and credentialed healthcare interpreters – 130 CHI™ certificants and 105 AHI™ recipients. This is a monumental day for healthcare providers, patients, coordinators of interpreting services, and language service providers who, with the CHI™ and AHI™ credentials, can now ensure the competency of healthcare interpreters across a wide variety of languages in a valid, consistent, and reliable way.
